We welcome school groups to visit the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Museum of Art and bring learning to life through art! Whether you’re introducing young learners to museums for the first time or deepening high schoolers’ understanding of art and culture, we’re here to help make your visit to the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Museum of Art meaningful and memorable. 

Please email artmuseum@bowdoin.edu if you would like to bring K-12 students to the Museum. We would be pleased to learn more about your goals and expectations and provide helpful information about your visit.

To make your Museum experience as enjoyable as possible, please share this with your chaperones: 

• Please ask your students to wear nametags. 

• Please have one chaperone for every ten students. Teachers and chaperones are responsible for their groups’ behavior throughout the entire visit.
• Chaperones are expected to stay with the students at all times.

• Please check umbrellas, backpacks, wet outerwear, and all other bags in excess of 11” x 15” in the lobby. Please hang all coats in the alcoves provided. 

• Use of cameras and cell phones is allowed only in certain areas of the Museum. Consult a security guard or front desk staff if you have questions. 

• The Museum reserves the right to inspect any book bags or other objects that a visitor holds prior to departure from the building. 
• Pencils are the only writing implements allowed in the galleries.

Additionally, please inform students of the following guidelines. Chaperones are requested to assist students in following these instructions:  

• Please help us take care of the art by not touching it. 

• Please remain twelve inches away when standing next to or pointing at works of art. 

• Please leave all food, drink, and gum in the coatroom area. 

• Please let others enjoy their experience in the galleries by not holding phone conversations and by silencing phone alerts. 

• Shirt and shoes are required. 

• Please only use pencils in the galleries.
