Safety Measures

The College makes available a number of safety features, devices, and programs.

AED

AED, First-Aid, and Narcan Boxes are located in several areas throughout the campus. View this AED/First Aid/Narcan map for locations.

Blue Light Call Box

Blue Light Emergency Call Boxes are located throughout the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ campus and in all elevators. A blue light indicates that there is a yellow emergency call box in that location. The call box is a two-way speaker. Press the large red button and it will automatically connect you to the Safety and Security Communications Center. When you hear the officer through the speaker, try to describe the nature of the emergency so they can inform the officer that is enroute to your location.

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Safe App

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Safe App The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Safe App, developed by the Office of Safety and Security, aims to enhance the safety of students and employees on their mobile devices. This app provides a range of features including emergency notifications, crime/incident reporting, counseling support services, the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Shuttle, virtual walk home, and more. You can download the app on your Apple device from the or on your Android device from .

 Hoverboards and Similar Devices Prohibited
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has investigated hoverboard-related fires across the country. For this and other safety reasons, many colleges, airlines, and municipalities have prohibited their use, charging, and storage. To help ensure the safety of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ community and campus visitors, we have also decided to prohibit the use, possession, or storage of hoverboards, smart boards, balance boards, scooters, and similar electronic devices on the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ campus until safety standards are developed, approved by the CPSC, and implemented by the manufacturers

Lamps

Lighted walkways and paths are located all around the campus. When traveling at night you should always stay in well-lit areas.

Crosswalk sign

Pedestrian Crosswalks surround the campus and have been equipped with pedestrian-activated crosswalk warning devices that have flashing lights when button is pressed. Activating these lights is proven to make you more visible to approaching traffic. Please use these safety devices whenever they are available.

Self Defense The Office of Safety and Security offers a safety course, taught by a certified instructor. If you have a group that is interested in this course contact the Office of Safety and Security at (207) 725-3458. Here are some self-defense courses offered in the Southern Maine area:

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Shuttle Sign

The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Shuttle (207) 725-3337 provides safe and convenient transportation for ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ students. The shuttle operates within an approximate one-mile radius of the campus center, an area that includes downtown Brunswick and many off-campus student apartments.
